Anton Michielsen – Founding Member – PIB Program Director Steel Complexes and Rail

  • Anton is the PIB Program Director for the feasibility study and design phases. He has 33 years engineering experience in rail and road infrastructure including: D&C Leader Aurecon, Transport Director for KBR-Aurecon Project Management Consultant role on the USD 35 billion Doha Express way Program in Qatar, Branch Engineer and Design Director for Leighton Contractors Qld involved in tendering multi billion dollar major D&C and BOOT projects and the delivery of the Gateway Upgrade Project in Brisbane. With Maunsell-AECOM for 18 years including Industry Director Major Projects Australasia, Country Director India, Design Director for Project MC1a of the Delhi Metro Program. Anton holds an MBA, University of Queensland; B.E Civil Engineering (Hons), University of Adelaide and is a Fellow of Engineers Australia.

Prof. Arthur (Art) Shulman – Founding Member, Project Director Knowledge Management

  • Art is currently Adjunct Professor at Griffith University Business School, Queensland. He is known for his research expertise in Sustainable Knowledge Management Practices: Alliance Management and Commercialisation. As a lecturer and Consultant Art brings many years of experience assisting in writing commercial proposals and government submissions. Art has researched, written and co-authored over 100 publications in international refereed Chapters, Journal articles as well as government reports.

Dr. Robert G Bowman (Jerry) – Founding Chief Financial Officer & Advisor

  • Jerry Bowman has extensive international financial consulting and management experience in various industries including rail, telecommunications, finance and technology. Before pursuing an academic career, Jerry was Manager with an international accounting firm , CFO of an exchange listed technology company and CEO of a start up company. Jerry has his PhD from Stanford University. In his academic career spanning more than 35 years, he was Professor of Finance at the University of Auckland from 1987 and has had visiting professional positions at Universities in Australia,USA, Singapore,Hong Kong and Korea.

Tom James – Project Director Construction and Design

  • Tom is the Project Director of PIB Transcontinental Rail. Tom is a leading Construction Industry executive with 30 years standing, Tom brings significant experience in the successful planning and delivery of major infrastructure projects in Australia and General Management leadership experience gained whilst holding senior positions over a 24 year career in leading construction and development companies. Tom James is a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and Graduate, JMW Leader of the Future program.

Phil Shapiro – Project Director, Technology, Systems and Controls

  • Phil Shapiro is a professional technology adviser, globally connected business executive and partner to senior leadership teams. Phil brings over 30 years of experience in leadership roles in technology companies of Avanade, Ericsson, Siemens, and DCG. Phil provides EWLP support for initiatives leveraging his broad experience acquired from developing and executing strategy for conglomerates and for entrepreneurial start-ups, including a company he co-founded.

Nick Meng – Marketing Manager (Asia Pacific)

  • Nick Fei Meng Joined the company when East West Line Parks was set up in March 2006. Nick was heavily involved in conducting Pre-Feasibility study of “Project Iron Boomerang (PIB)” from 2006 to 2008. As Marketing Manager, Nick has established and managed relationships with more than 30 global steel, mining, engineering, consulting, investment companies and Australian and overseas governments to promote PIB since 2006. Nick is also working closely with many experts and design companies in Australia and overseas on the designs of PIB’s 42 ton Axle Load Coal Wagon, Self loading Steel/ Container Ship and Steel Making Parks.

Haruhiko (Haru) Kinase – Business Development Manager (Asia – Japan), Engineering Services

  • Haruhiko is EWLP’s Business Development Manager (Asia/ Japan) Engineering Services. Haruhiko has previously worked with Japan’s largest newspaper company with a daily circulation of over 8 million newspapers; Haruhiko Holds Master of Business Administration from USA; Master of Engineering from Japan; Bachelor of Engineering from Japan.

Matthew Magin – Project Director, Central Queensland Business Coordination and Development

  • Matthew Magin is the Project Director Central Queensland Business Coordination and Development. Matthew Magin is also Regional Relationship Manager Abbot Point with North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation. Matthew has 17 years Federal and State Government experience in political and senior bureaucracy ranks. Matthew is also the CEO of a regional economic development organisation and has 10 year’s experience as a business consultant and 20 years senior management experience in the retail industry.
