Rail Infrastructure

  • PIB aims to revolutionize world steelmaking by linking the Pilbara iron ore mines in Western Australia with the Bowen Basin coalmines in North Queensland via a 3,300km rail line. Once completed, this railroad will be the world’s most efficient heavy-haul, standard-gauge railroad operating between North Galilee basin via Moranbah to the Port of Abbot Point in Queensland.
  • A Rail Study Manager was appointed in June 2011 to oversee the rail corridor survey, environmental issues, railroad design and the land acquisition process. Survey work has already commenced using professional personnel supplied by Engenium Pty Ltd. Engenium has extensive experience in the design and project management of most of the heavy haul standard gauge railroads (existing and planned) in Australia.
